Amazon Prime Day is one of the most exciting shopping holidays especially for online bargain hunters with Prime membership. As far as holiday seasonal sales go, it has grown to rival not only the likes of Black Friday and Cyber Monday but also summertime sales offered by competing retailers.
This year marks the 7th annual mega sale on Amazon. Shoppers expect to see exclusive sitewide deals especially on popular gadgets and more! Today, we’ll be talking about everything you can expect from Amazon Prime Day 2021. Let’s get started!
Amazon Prime Day is a sitewide shopping holiday exclusively offered to Amazon Prime members all over the globe. The first Prime Day was held on July 15, 2015 in honor of Amazon’s 20th Anniversary. It was promoted to featured more deals than Black Friday.
This first Prime Day was celebrated in 9 countries including the U.S., UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, and Austria. Since then, the mega sale event has gained popularity and has expanded to 18 countries since 2020. It now includes countries like the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, India, China, Belgium, and Australia.
Originally, Prime Day was a 24-hour event but in 2018, Amazon expanded the holiday to 36 hours and in 2019 it lasted a full 48 hours.
During the shopping holiday, Prime members can take advantage not only of Prime Day deals across the site but also of Lightning Deals featuring limited-time discounts on items. New deals also appear every few minutes and members get a heads up through the Amazon App.
This event has since become one of the main ways Amazon boosts awareness and sales for its branded goods like the Amazon Echo and Kindle as well as on home and kitchen gear, clothes, toys and so much more.
Other brands have also been participating on Prime Day so you can get exclusive deals especially on tech products like laptops, tablets, phones, and more. You can get great deals on Instant Pots, robotic vacuums, smartwatches, and even mattresses.
As of time of writing, Amazon hasn’t formally announced when Prime Day 2021 will be. Traditionally, Prime Day happens in July. In 2020, however, Amazon moved the shopping holiday to October due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the unprecedented surge in deliveries.
This year, there are reports that the sale event will happen as early as June. There’s also talk of two Prime Days happening—one in Summer and one in the Fall. In any case, Prime members can expect big discounts on a wide range of items this year.
Prime Day offers huge price cuts on a lot of Amazon smart devices. If you’re looking to upgrade your gadgets, then this is the best time to shop for items like the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick, Fire Tablets, and Fire Edition TVs. Items from Amazon’s Whole Foods supermarket chain will also be up for grabs.
