We’ve all been there before – you spend hours making and editing a YouTube video that you just know in your heart is going to be a banger.
You get excited, upload the video, and wait for the views to start rolling in only to realize that it’s been over a month and your video has only 5 views.
If this scenario sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. But the good news is that there’s still hope for you to have the channel you’ve always dreamed of.
I believe every online business needs videos to grow.
I’m Mohamed Salah, a YouTube channel growth and Google Ads Video certified expert.
In my early years on YouTube, I also tried many things before I got the answer on how I can grow my channel. In the past six years, I’ve been deeply focused on growing my own fitness consultancy through YouTube.
As of this year, I have been able to accumulate 12,000,000+ views and gain 120,000+ subscribers with the proprietary video marketing formula that I have made.
I’ve worked with a lot of YouTube channels, doing channel reviews, doing consulting and things like that and what I’ve noticed is that for some channels, some things work, and for other channels, other things work.
In this article, I’m going to guide you through some of the things you’ve been doing wrong.
You may not have realized where you’ve gone wrong, but that’s exactly what we shall cover and get right to the reasons why your channel is not growing and how to fix it.
Let’s get into it!
So, it’s been a few months since you started your YouTube channel and you still haven’t gotten a thousand views. What results can you expect in that short period of time? If it was that easy, then everyone would be the next YouTube famous star.
Do you know that more than 90% of YouTube channels never reach 1,000 subscribers and there are more than 50 million YouTube channels out there? You do the math.
You have to be patient. And those who seem to have been famous took time to grow. YouTube growth is exponential.
This means you may only get a couple of subscribers a day in the beginning, but as your channel grows, that few subscribers will turn into hundreds and thousands. YouTube is not an overnight success.
What is your goal?
Are you only making videos and hope that it will explode and hit a million views overnight?
Let us face reality; it doesn’t work that way.
YouTube optimization is one of the important things that you should know and apply for your channel. Through optimization, it will help your videos to have more views and get noticed.
Search engine optimization on YouTube works similarly to other search engines like Google.
Essentially, you need to be mindful of the key phrases you’re using in your titles and tags. Keywords make it easier for YouTube to know what your video is about, which results in allowing it to appear in search results when users search for a specific subject.
Let’s be real, no one wants to watch a boring video.
Remember, you have an average of 10 to 15 seconds to capture the attention of your audiences.
Always start your videos with a hook to ignite their curiosity. Even if the subject you’re talking about isn’t exciting, there are still ways you can make it interesting and engaging.
Make sure your video is of good quality and consider sharing information that users can’t easily find anywhere else.
It’s also important that your videos are structured in a way that makes sense. You should begin each video with an introduction to give viewers an idea of what to expect.
Interesting titles and thumbnails will lead to curiosity, which will make people want to watch your videos.
Keep in mind, if your title or thumbnail doesn’t accurately represent what your video is about, people will notice that the video is not relevant to what they are looking for and they will click off quickly. This will hurt your audience retention percent.
Create a clear message and clickable thumbnail that will stand out.
If you want to write YouTube titles that get views, then you should use the main keyword in your video’s title. Also, try to give your audiences the answer to what they want. For example:
Be clear on what you are uploading and when. Create and stick to a realistic channel schedule.
If you don’t post consistently, your viewers are likely to lose interest in your channel.
Remember that YouTube algorithm places a high value on consistency. By uploading videos sporadically, you are telling the YouTube algorithm and your audiences that your YouTube channel isn’t that important and consequently YouTube won’t promote your videos as often.
There are hundreds of videos available online on how to use YouTube, but they don’t offer a one-on-one help or YouTube coaching service where you can ask questions and get your specific needs addressed.
I know because I’ve been a YouTube creator since 2014 and all of the skills, trial and error, and learning curve needed to actually grow your channel are insane.
